Background

Viv takes day to day responsibility for running the school and most people that call will end up speaking to her first. Viv started powerboating in Poole one May back about 25 years ago when Paul persuaded her that standing with each leg on a plank of wood getting frozen and going blue is fun. Bizarrely she agreed and the rest, as they say, is history. Viv has plenty of powerboating experience and in the PTUK ‘Hall of Fame’ lays claim to managing to snap the driveshaft in a 8.5m diesel inboard RIB in a force 7 off Old Harry necessitating a bit of assistance from the training Lifeboat and a tow from the friendly Marine Police RIB. She’s also spent a few hours in a liferaft in the waves in the RNLI Poole for Motor Boats Monthly. With Paul she transited round Ireland in 2013 travelling about 1200 miles in 11 days.

Viv’s knowledge of the RYA Powerboat and Motor Cruising Schemes (including what is necessary for working commercially and boating overseas) is exceptional and ranks alongside the RYA’s. Even if she doesn’t know the answer then she can always find out. She ensures we have the necessary instructors, boats and classrooms available which when you appreciate how many courses we run in our busiest weeks makes you realise how busy she can be.
