The waters around the coast of the UK are probably about to have their busiest year ever. Paul Glatzel discusses what you can do to make the most of your time afloat while ensuring you keep friends and family safe. . .

The last 12 months have been a pretty strange time on the water, and with lock down easing, everyone’s keen to get afloat with family and friends.

There’s little doubt that this year is going to be massively busy – going abroad will probably not happen or most people, and so quite rightly paddleboards are flying off the shelves, windsurf boards are being dusted off, and powerboats and PWC’s are being buffed up and serviced ready or great days afloat. Marinas are reporting record numbers of applications, with many locations having no free berths, and if dealers are to be believed, there are no new PWCs/jet skis left for sale in the UK and the brokerages are struggling to get hold of any stock boats to sell ‘second hand’.

So as you aim to get out there, are there any things you need to think about to make sure that you have a great time and also that you and your family and friends stay safe?
