Keith Colwell

Keith is a highly regarded member of the PTUK team. Having taught for years, he brings a high level of expertise and practical experience.

Background

Keith started boating at the age of nine when his family moved to Poole. He trained as a naval architect and worked at Lloyd’s Register, RNLI design office and for a local workboat builder before becoming a boating journalist. After 22 years he jumped ship to join the RNLI as a Sea Safety Manager – for 15 years – for the RNLI’s south west region. He trained as an RYA instructor – Advanced Powerboat, Sea Survival and VHF – while working for the RNLI and have started instructing with PTUK since 2005. Author of the RYA Sea Survival Handbook and the RYA Boat Safety Handbook
