Testimonials
We love getting feedback
about our courses, boats/classrooms and of course our Instructors. Constructive
feedback helps us to develop better courses and of course very positive feedback
is just nice to get!
Below is a

"I would like to thank the
team very much for a most enjoyable Level 2 Course.
Terry, Simon and Glen
created a great atmosphere in the classroom and on the boats and did a great job
of getting everyone to work as a team. Questions were encouraged and no-one was
made to feel out of place for asking - Simon came to my assistance when I
couldn't quite fathom how to get the lifejacket on and even managed to
keep a straight face!
Glen took our group of
three for the practical sessions and really made the course come alive. His
enthusiasm for powerboats clearly rubbed off and I have now decided to get a
RIB! Our group didn't have a lot of experience with handling boats before and
Glen was great at seeing where we were going wrong and adjusting the pace to
suit our needs.
I would definitely
recommend Powerboat Training UK to anyone considering getting on the water, even
with little or no experience. I look forward to taking my Intermediate Course at
some point in the future after I've practiced what I've learnt a bit more."

"Just a quick note to pass
on how much Martin and I enjoyed the Weekend course. The Helicopter winch had
nothing to do with it of course! Terry McFall and Don Roper were excellent
instructors and the whole course was pitched just right with great informal
tuition. The boats, people and teaching were all just thoroughly impressive. I'd
be ever so grateful if you could email the digipics of the Helicopter exercise
or pass them over on CD." ~ Rob
"Good afternoon Paul. I had the pleasure of attending a Day Skipper course
over last weekend and must compliment you on a very slick operation. Over the 4
days I digested a significant amount of information which will certainly enhance
my enjoyment of my boating in the future. I was given the basics of navigation
which will enable me to safely operate my boat whilst furthering my knowledge
over the coming months possibly with another course solely on navigation. On
boat handling whilst I had a basic knowledge Don was able to show me the finer
points some of which were extremely impressive yet simple once you know them.
Overall the course was extremely well run. Don's knowledge and strength of
personality meant he could run a fun course whilst ensuring the crew
concentrated on both safety and training. A lesser man may well have struggled
with 4 successful businessman. Your school is a credit to the RYA and Don is
without doubt a credit to your school. Hopefully we will have the pleasure to
meet again." ~ David commenting on his Dayskipper course on Top Hat
"Ian was fantastic, he made the course fun as well as very educational"
Joe after his Level 2 Course
"Terry was very enthusiastic and obviously has a great level of
knowledge, he was very thorough and yet was always very patient. I found the
course hugely beneficial" Alan commenting on an Advanced Course
"I really enjoyed becoming more confident with manoeuvring and
close quarters handling. I thoroughly enjoyed both days, Paul was excellent and
hugely patient" Ian after a Level 2 course
"Thank you very much from Davinia and myself, for the training yesterday. We
appreciated all the help and advice you gave us. We now feel more confident to
take the boat out on the water on our own. We shall be trying to practise all
the skills and manoeuvring techniques you taught us. As discussed, we shall be
in contact shortly to arrange a date for the second part of our training." ~
Andy & Davinia
"Terry, just wanted to
drop you a line to say thank you. The course you ran was excellent, quite
inspiring actually not wanting to go over the top but I have always been a sail
boat person and hated the noise of power boats. However I can see the fun to be
had now and they are in so many ways a very practical form of transport."
Anthony on his Level 2 course
"What a fantastic
weekend! Thankyou both very much for making it so, when you next see dave (no
doubt on his instructors course) please pass on my thanks to him as well. I
personally thought it was a great idea that you have a policy of inviting
prospective instructors along to observe your course. A another source of little
tips , experience and suggestions " Magic" ! Once again thankyou both very much
I look forward to seeing you at Easter" ~ Alastair
"A relaxed professional, we felt safe at all times" Philip commenting on
his Powerboat Level 2 Course
"He made it fun and covered things really well ........ many thanks for
doing such a great job with the kids too" Deb commenting on a Level 2 course
"I really enjoyed the feeling of confidence given by Instructor, the
thoroughness of training and the satisfaction of successfully passing the
course" John commenting on his Level 1 course on his own boat
"The course was primarily for my husband but it was really helpful for me as
I learnt how to assist him in berthing the boat, Don showed great enthusiasm
throughout the day" Nicki commenting on some bespoke training and an ICC
assessment on their Motor Cruising
"Just got back to Surrey from Hamble and wanted to drop you a quick e-mail
for contact purposes and to let you know that the confidence I have gained with
your tuition over the last two days has been immense, you should be very proud
of your skills and your training technique, it is exceptional. This is not an
e-mail to kiss your arse but to say thank-you and that I look forward to the
rest of my training........Oh one other point, I took Sam out today to Yarmouth,
Cowes and then Ocean Village using your training (Not haring around like an
idiot, the prop did not leave the water once!) and she had a fantastic time, she
even said she would look forward to going again!!I am looking forward to the
next session; I am off for a pint and food now." ~ Nick commenting on his
Advanced Course
"Thanks so much for all your calm advice, it was really useful for me to
listen (sometimes interrupt) to someone with so much experience. I really did
feel that I gained a lot from the time and my only regret is that I didn't do
this 6 months ago with more time on my hands. For a hobby boating can be
fantastic but, like driving it's easy to pick up bad habits and it was great to
learn the right way to do things. I can now build on what you have shown me and
will definitely expand on my knowledge now. I can't wait to pass this on to my
kids in the future. As I have said I work in a commercial market but, there is a
difference in a bullish approach and the right approach, thanks for your advice,
I can't wait to see the quiet nod of approval from the old guy on the quay
(that's the one that counts). Don't worry I will try my best to keep your 100%
pass rate ~ much swatting will be done on the theory stuff. Thanks again for
coming up to Essex, having training on your own boat is a real benefit and well
worth the extra money and I did appreciate that you put yourself out." ~
Danny after some bespoke Yachtmaster Preparation training on his catamaran
"I enjoyed learning to handle the boat correctly and using the wind to put
the boat into different positions, I felt Ian was very easy to listen to and was
very patient with us. I felt everything was covered to just the right level of
detail" Adam following his Level 2 course
"Confidence building and taking all advice from Ian's experience the course
covered the areas I wanted and Ian focussed on what I wanted to cover" Sarah
after an Intermediate Course
"Great instruction, clear concise theoretical work and good practical.
Overall brilliant - great Instructors" Charles commenting on a Level 2 course
"I enjoyed all aspects of both theory and practical work, there was lots of
time on the water giving me plenty of the time at the helm. Good student to
Instructor ratio" Stephen commenting on his Level 2 course
"I enjoyed all aspects of the course, a great friendly Instructor who covered
everything in brilliant detail. I got plenty of practice at everything and he
answered every question I had." Mike commenting on his Level 2 course.
"Always the sceptic I had a pre-conceived idea this would be another theory
course. In fact it was an excellent mix of practical tasks combined with lots of
useful hints and tips......... absolutely spot on, so much so that I want to do
the Advanced Course - even at my advanced years!" John commenting on the
Intermediate Powerboat Course that he undertook on his own 24ft Sports Fisher
with his wife.
"Gave me confidence to go boating" Mario commenting on his Level 2 course
"I really enjoyed becoming more confident with manoeuvring and
close quarters handling. I thoroughly enjoyed both days, Paul was excellent and
hugely patient" Ian after a Level 2 course
